Leslie Werosh Visbal, MPA
Leslie C. W. Visbal has more than 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with over 20 years in the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Prior to starting Visbal Strategic Consulting, she was the Executive Director of Ability Now Bay Area in Oakland, California, an organization which educates and empowers adults with disabilities and their families. Preceding her tenure at Ability Now, Leslie was with the California Autism Foundation in Richmond, California, where she held several leadership positions over her 12 years of employment, including Vice President of Programs and Senior Director of Special Education and Development. Leslie’s career has focused on enhancing, promoting, and operating programs that help individuals with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities access opportunities and gain independence and self-advocacy.
Throughout her work, she has managed significant organizational change, successfully eliminated budget deficits, mentored employees in management roles, fundraised in excess of $1mm through donor cultivation and grants, and helped organizations to develop their vision and strategy for success.
Leslie’s educational path was chosen to better prepare her to ensure exceptional nonprofit operations and provide an outstanding quality of service. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Indiana University Bloomington and a Master of Public Administration degree specializing in Nonprofit Administration from San Francisco State University. Leslie is a member of the San Francisco State Chapter of the Pi Alpha Honorary Society – the National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration, and the American Society for Public Administration.
Over the years, she acknowledged that her strengths are best shared through supporting many nonprofits and businesses - from helping them to develop and achieve their missions, supporting them through organizational change and/or executive transitions, encouraging efficiency in operations, or working with organizations to develop strategic, sustainable pathways to ensure long-term success. Thus, in 2020, Visbal Strategic Consulting was born.
